About Nova
Nova was not created from the outside looking in. It was built from years of working closely with families and seeing what happens when care is done well — and when it is not.

Grace’s story
When Grace was a young woman, she did her work experience at a local funeral directors. She saw first-hand what a good funeral looked like. The care, the attention, the way a family could leave feeling that their loved one had been truly honoured.
She carried that with her.
Years later, when her father died, she assumed the same care would be there. It wasn't.
The funeral was generic. It felt like it had been put together from a list rather than a life. There was no room for who her dad actually was — his humour, his quirks, the things that made him him. Grace sat through a service that could have been for anyone.
She never forgot that feeling.
So she trained as a celebrant. And for the next fifteen years, she worked with hundreds of families — sitting with them, listening to their stories, and making sure the person they lost was remembered properly. Not in a template. Not in a script. As themselves.
Grace knows what a good funeral does for a grieving family. She also knows what a bad one takes away.
What she saw
Working alongside so many funeral directors over those fifteen years, Grace saw something that troubled her.
The ones who cared the most, the small, independent businesses who knew their families by name and took real pride in what they did, were losing ground. Not because their service was worse. Because they couldn't be found.
Families were searching online and finding the big national chains first. Co-op. Dignity. Pure Cremation. Companies with large marketing budgets and dedicated teams whose only job was to make sure they showed up at the top of Google.
The independent directors Grace trusted and respected were invisible by comparison. And that felt wrong.

Craig’s role
Craig has spent 25 years building websites, developing marketing strategies, and helping organisations, mostly in the charity sector, communicate better and reach more people. He knows how to take something with genuine heart and make sure the right people find it.
When Grace brought him the problem she'd been watching play out across her celebrant career, the answer was clear.
Together, they built Nova.
What we’re here to do
Nova works exclusively with small, independent funeral directors.
Not hotels. Not solicitors. Not a mixed bag of local businesses. Just independent funeral directors, because that's where our experience sits, and because we believe these businesses are worth fighting for.
The national chains have the budgets. We give independents the strategy, the tools, and the expertise to compete anyway.
We're here to level the playing field. One funeral director at a time.
Why this matters
We're not a marketing agency that works across dozens of industries. Grace has spent fifteen years inside the funeral sector, earning the trust of families at the hardest moments of their lives. She knows what good looks like because she's helped create it.
That's why we only work with directors who share that commitment. If you take pride in what you do and you're tired of being overlooked online — we'd like to help.
We’ll review your online presence and show you exactly how visible your business is compared to others in your area.
No jargon. No obligation. Just a clear answer.
